Look Both Ways

Look Both Ways

By the smoky tracks of history,
Where the rails split and whisper
Into the looming shadows of tomorrow,
I stand and call, “Look both ways.”

See the leaders, left and right,
Marching bold with banners high,
Promising dreams in vibrant hues,
Yet leading paths where darkness lies.

On the left, the call for unity,
Equality in every breath,
Yet in whispers, I hear the chains,
Freedom lost in the name of progress.

On the right, the anthem rings,
Tradition’s torch held fiercely bright,
But shadows creep, and voices hush,
Justice silenced in the name of might.

Oh, my brothers, oh, my sisters,
In the echoes of the city streets,
In the fields where wheat bends low,
I call to you, “Look both ways.”

In the fervor of our passions,
In the heat of righteous cries,
Can we see the silent tolls,
The cracks where our foundation lies?

Beware the path that gleams too bright,
Where promises like sirens sing,
For in the heart of fervent zeal,
Lies the seed of suffering.

Not every leader knows the way,
Not every road leads to the dawn,
In the pursuit of noble dreams,
We might find our freedoms gone.

Stand here with me at the crossroads,
Feel the tremor in the ground,
See the shadows of our choices,
In the leaders we have crowned.

Look both ways, dear friend and foe,
For in the balance of our sight,
Lies the hope of brighter days,
Beyond the left, beyond the right.
