Congratulations on ending the government shutdown — a true masterclass in achieving nothing. After weeks of chaos, suffering, and uncertainty for millions of Americans, you’ve managed to return us precisely to where we started. Bravo.
Airports backed up, families scraping by without paychecks, federal employees used as leverage in another political staring contest — and for what? So the same handful of partisan showboats could emerge from the wreckage declaring “victory” on the Sunday shows?
You’ve proven once again that dysfunction isn’t an accident; it’s your operating model. While the rest of the country held its breath wondering how to pay rent, you all continued to collect your checks, point fingers, and smile for the cameras. Must be nice to have a job where failure pays so well.
The lights are back on, but don’t kid yourselves — the system is still broken. The people who make this country function have been reminded yet again that in Washington, accountability is optional, empathy is expendable, and leadership is a myth.
Do better — or at least pretend to care. The rest of us are running out of patience, and the applause track has gone silent.
